A Thai national has been arrested at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport while allegedly attempting to smuggle 46.6kg of synthetic cannabis into Nigeria.
The 24-year-old suspect, identified as Pattaphi Wimonnat, was intercepted by officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, during the inward clearance of passengers on a Qatar Airways flight from Thailand via Doha.

Authorities say she had concealed 43 parcels of the high-potency strain, known as Canadian Loud, in her luggage. She is said to have admitted to being recruited as a courier and was allegedly promised a payment of $3,000 for delivering the consignment.
The arrest, which took place on 20 February, is part of the NDLEA’s ongoing crackdown on international drug trafficking networks.
