The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, has ordered MultiChoice Nigeria to maintain its current subscription rates while an investigation into its proposed price increase is underway.
MultiChoice announced new tariffs for its DStv and GOtv packages on 24 February, raising concerns among subscribers. The following day, the FCCPC summoned the company’s chief executive for an investigative hearing, scheduled for Thursday, to justify the decision.

In a statement, FCCPC’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Ondaje Ijagwu, confirmed the directive, noting that MultiChoice had requested an extension regarding its appearance before the commission.
Under the revised pricing set to take effect from 1 March, the DStv Premium package would rise from N37,000 to N44,500, while Compact+ subscribers would pay N30,000, up from N25,000. Compact customers would see their fees increase from N17,000 to N19,000. The commission’s probe seeks to assess the fairness of these adjustments.
