FCCPC probes viral bread review after safety concerns

Domestic Airlines Fault FCCPC Over Price Fixing Claims

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, has launched an investigation into a viral video in which a consumer claimed a loaf of bread remained fresh for over two months.

The commission’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Ondaje Ijagwu, said on Tuesday that the video raised safety concerns, prompting its surveillance and legal teams to begin inquiries. The case involves a consumer, Love Doshima, whose review circulated widely online.

Mr Ijagwu said the FCCPC is working with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control to analyse the bread sample referenced in the video. He also confirmed the agency intervened to secure the woman’s release after she was reportedly arrested following a lawsuit by the baker seeking fifty million naira in damages.

The commission says it is monitoring the situation and will act within the law, emphasising that consumers have the right to information, to be heard, and to seek redress where necessary.
