Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has formally submitted a sexual harassment petition against Senate President Godswill Akpabio during today’s plenary session. The Kogi Central senator raised the petition under Senate Order 40, citing comments she previously made on Arise TV.
Meanwhile, Senate President Godswill Akpabio denied allegations of sexual harassment brought against him by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, asserting that he holds women in high regards.
Mr. Akpabio allowed the petition to proceed and referred it to the committee on code of conduct, ethics, and public petitions.

However, Senate Chief Whip Mohammed Tahir Monguno objected, arguing that the case is already before the court. Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan countered, clarifying that the court case in question is a defamation suit filed by Akpabio’s special assistant, not the harassment allegations.
Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele also opposed the petition, calling it defective. The disagreement led to a heated exchange, resulting in a brief rowdy session before order was restored.
Amid the tension, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan walked out of the chamber, underscoring the deepening divisions within the Senate over the allegations.
