The Nigerian military has neutralised 92 terrorists and rescued 75 kidnapped hostages in operations conducted between 27 February and 6 March 2025. Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, disclosed this at a press briefing in Abuja, where he also confirmed the arrest of 18 individuals involved in oil theft and other criminal activities.
General Kangye stated that troops apprehended gunrunners, oil theft collaborators, and violent extremists while conducting air interdiction missions, armed reconnaissance patrols, and close air support operations. He emphasised that the military remains committed to tackling insecurity across the country.

Meanwhile, the Defence Headquarters has launched ‘Operation Safe Corridor’ in the North-West, with its headquarters in Tsafe, Zamfara State. The initiative is aimed at rehabilitating and reintegrating repentant terrorists willing to surrender their arms. Governor Dauda Lawal, during the handover of office facilities for the programme, reaffirmed his administration’s support for security agencies in combating criminal activities.
The initiative is expected to complement ongoing military operations in the region. ‘Operation Safe Corridor’ follows a structured framework of Disarmament, Demobilisation, De-radicalisation, Rehabilitation, and Reintegration to help ex-fighters transition back into society and promote long-term peace.
