Intelligence reports had indicated that the hostages were among those taken by armed groups along the Jos–Ganawuri road on 7 March. Troops engaged the kidnappers, forcing them to abandon their captives and retreat into the surrounding terrain.
The freed individuals have since been debriefed to assist further military operations against the group before being reunited with their families.
