The United States has condemned the killing of nine members of Nigerian pastor Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo’s family in Plateau State, urging Nigerian authorities to hold perpetrators accountable.
In a statement from the State Department’s Bureau of African Affairs, Washington called the July 12 attack on Kum community, Riyom LGA, “horrific,” extending condolences and warning that violence against Christian and vulnerable communities in Nigeria’s Middle Belt remains “deeply alarming.”
Dachomo, COCIN’s Regional Chairman for Barkin Ladi, said gunmen linked to Fulani militias asked for him by name before opening fire on his relatives, including a two-month-old baby. He says his family has faced repeated attacks over his activism and has since received fresh death threats.
