Lagos Bridge Repairs Traffic Diversions Announced

The Lagos State Government will close sections of the Independence/Mekwen Bridge for emergency repairs from 19 March to 26 May. Traffic diversions will be in place for the two-month period.

The state’s transport commissioner, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, confirmed that the affected route includes the stretch from the National Open University of Nigeria through Bonny Camp to Independence Bridge. The Bonny Camp Underpass Bridge service lane inbound Independence Bridge will also be closed.

However, motorists can use the service lane from Ahmadu Bello Way to Ozumba Mbadiwe. Alternative routes have been provided, with those heading to the Third Mainland Bridge advised to follow Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue, Akin Adesola Street, and Alfred Rewane Road.

Traffic from Inner Marina/CMS will still have access to Ahmadu Bello Way. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, will oversee traffic control throughout the repairs.
