The Federal Government has signed an $8 billion Green Imperative Project (GIP) agreement with Brazil to boost Nigeria’s agricultural sector. The agreement was signed during a meeting chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, with the Brazilian Ambassador to Nigeria, Carlos Garcete, and key ministers in attendance.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Marcus Ogunbiyi, signed the document on behalf of the Federal Government. The GIP is a private sector initiative designed to support small-scale farmers across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas.

Vice President Shettima described the partnership as part of the government’s commitment to enhancing food security and improving agricultural productivity. The initiative is expected to provide modern equipment, training, and resources to help farmers boost output and reduce post-harvest losses.
