2027 Election Is Tinubu vs Nigerians says PDP Chairman

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the upcoming 2027 general elections as a battle between President Bola Tinubu and the worsening living conditions of Nigerians. Speaking on Thursday in Abuja, PDP Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, said the contest transcends political affiliations, urging citizens to take ownership of the electoral process.

Presenting a Certificate of Return to the PDP’s Anambra governorship candidate, Chief Ezenwafor Jude, Damagum emphasized that the polls would not be determined by political muscle or the number of elected officials, but by how Nigerians assess their quality of life.

Damagum also reacted to the recent mass defection in Delta State, where Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, his predecessor Ifeanyi Okowa, and cabinet members defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He expressed disappointment, stating that the PDP had shown unwavering support to Delta and did not expect such a political betrayal.

While acknowledging that the party has endured similar setbacks in the past, the PDP chairman maintained that the struggle for 2027 is not about individuals but about rescuing Nigeria from hardship.
