iREP Mourns Passing of Arts Champion Bola Browne

The iREP Documentary Film Forum is mourning the passing of Bola Browne, a prominent figure in Nigeria’s arts and culture scene. Browne, described as a tireless champion of the arts and a generous creative spirit, died last night.

In a statement, iREP praised his dedication to supporting filmmakers, artists and audiences, noting his regular and thoughtful presence at film screenings, concerts and cultural events. He was also recognised for curating performances, hosting gatherings and creating opportunities for artistic collectives across the country.

Browne was a familiar face at Freedom Park in Lagos, where he spun music, held space for dialogue and connected members of the art community with warmth and energy. The forum described him as a great partner who gave of himself generously in service to the creative tribe.

In its statement,  iREP  celebrated Bola Browne’s life, legacy and boundless contribution to the arts, adding that his memory will be cherished within the community he served so passionately.
