Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has accused the Nigeria Police Force of favouritism in its handling of petitions involving Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.
In a letter dated 19 May and addressed to the Attorney General of the Federation, her legal counsel, Mr. Ehiogie West-Idahosa, SAN, described the police response as a “disturbing pattern of preferential treatment.”
The senator filed three petitions between March and April—ranging from alleged assassination plots to unlawful withdrawal of police protection. All were acknowledged, but her legal team claims no visible investigation has followed.

By contrast, a counter-petition filed by Mr Akpabio on 3 April—alleging criminal defamation—prompted a swift police response.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has since been questioned, during which she reaffirmed her claims and submitted witness details.
Her legal team argues that Mr. Yahaya Bello, no longer in office, is not protected by immunity and should be investigated accordingly.
