The Enugu State Police Command says it has uncovered and dismantled an illegal firearms fabrication workshop in Udi Local Government Area. The raid was carried out by operatives of the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad on 30 June following actionable intelligence.
According to a statement by police spokesperson Daniel Ndukwe, the breakthrough followed the arrest of 32-year-old Ekene Okafor, a suspected member of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity. He had earlier been detained for conspiracy, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of firearms.

Okafor led officers to the workshop located in Amofia-Agu Affa, where his cut-to-size gun was reportedly being repaired. The workshop owner fled on sighting the police, but several weapons were recovered, including two English-made double-barrel guns, eight single-barrel guns, live and expended cartridges, three generators, and firearm repair tools.
Commissioner of Police Mamman Bitrus Giwa commended the operatives and reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to rid the state of illegal arms. He urged the public to remain law-abiding and support the police with credible information.
