Super Falcons Face Zambia Test as Madugu Backs Attack to Deliver

Nigeria’s Super Falcons head into Friday’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal against Zambia with cautious optimism, as coach Justin Madugu remains confident his side will find their scoring form.

Despite dominating the group stage, the nine-time champions have faced criticism for a lack of cutting edge in front of goal—scoring just four times across three matches against Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria.

Concerns persist over the team’s attacking efficiency, particularly after 24 attempts on goal against Algeria failed to produce a single strike. Madugu, however, says intensive work is ongoing in training to sharpen the forward line.

Zambia, who scored six goals in the group stage, present Nigeria’s toughest attacking challenge yet, led by Barbra Banda and Racheal Kundananji.

While the Super Falcons have yet to concede, they will need to combine defensive solidity with improved finishing to progress.
