Troops of the Nigerian Army, backed by hybrid forces and intelligence from the Department of State Services, have killed at least 45 bandits in a major security operation in Iburu village, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State. The gun battle erupted after intelligence reports warned of terrorists advancing on motorcycles to attack the area.
According to security sources, dozens of motorcycles were destroyed during the exchange, with villagers confirming the recovery of at least 40 bodies believed to be those of the assailants. Two members of the hybrid forces were killed, and four others are currently receiving treatment for gunshot wounds in Minna.

Meanwhile, in Zamfara State, 38 kidnapped residents of Banga village have been killed by their captors, despite the payment of over ₦50 million in ransom. The chairman of Kaura Namoda Local Government, Mannir Haidara Kaura, confirmed the incident, saying only 18 of the abducted 56 victims were released.
One community leader said the bandits had demanded ₦1 million per hostage. He appealed to the federal and state governments to deploy more troops to the area to restore peace, rescue remaining captives, and aid the return of displaced residents.
