Federal Government Pays Second Tranche of ₦35,000 Wage Award Arrears

The Federal Government has paid the second tranche of the ₦35,000 wage award arrears to federal civil servants. The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation said one month’s arrears had already been paid out of the initial five months owed.

In a statement signed by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Bawa Mokwa, the office said the latest payment leaves three more instalments before the arrears are fully cleared. The wage award was introduced as part of palliative measures to cushion the impact of economic hardship.

The Accountant General’s office dismissed reports suggesting the government had abandoned the payment plan. It said the arrears would continue to be settled in monthly instalments of ₦35,000 until all outstanding payments are completed.

The government urged civil servants to remain patient, assuring them of its commitment to fulfilling the wage award promise despite prevailing economic challenges.
