Hundreds of Palestinians in Gaza City have attended the funeral of five Al Jazeera journalists, including veteran correspondent Anas al-Sharif, killed in an Israeli air strike near al-Shifa Hospital.
Crowds carried the bodies to Sheikh Radwan Cemetery, raising a ‘press’ flak jacket in silent protest. The late-Sunday strike also killed correspondent Mohammed Qreiqeh, camera operators Ibrahim Zaher, Moamen Aliwa and Mohammed Noufal, as well as freelance reporter Mohammed al-Khaldi.

Rights groups condemned what they described as a targeted killing, warning of a deepening assault on press freedom. The Israeli military admitted responsibility, claiming al-Sharif led a Hamas cell — an accusation rejected by media watchdogs.
The attack comes amid Israel’s blockade of Gaza, which rights groups say has caused a starvation crisis killing hundreds, including children. Calls for international accountability are growing.
