Police in Ebonyi State say they have rescued two kidnapped students in Ikwo Local Government Area and arrested three suspects. Commissioner of Police, Anthonia Uche-Anya, told journalists in Abakaliki that the students were freed unharmed after officers stormed an uncompleted building where they were being held.
The police chief said investigations are ongoing and confirmed that 131 suspects were arrested for various crimes between July and mid-August, with 52 already charged to court. She added that six vehicles, 15 firearms and 50 rounds of ammunition were recovered during operations.

Uche-Anya explained that land and boundary disputes often trigger violence in the state, particularly during the farming season. She said the command has adopted early warning systems and dialogue with communities to prevent conflicts.
The Commissioner urged residents to report suspicious activity to help sustain security in the state.
