Gaza’s Health Ministry says at least 19 people, including four journalists, were killed on Monday in an Israeli strike on the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis. Officials said the victims died in a double-tap strike, where one missile was followed by another as rescue crews arrived.
The journalists killed were named as Al Jazeera cameraman Mohammad Salama, Reuters photojournalist Hussam al-Masri, Mariam Abu Daqqa who worked with The Associated Press and The Independent Arabic, and NBC contributor Moaz Abu Taha. Reuters said its live feed from the hospital, operated by al-Masri, cut off at the moment of the strike.

Reuters confirmed that its photojournalist Hatem Khaled was among those injured. The attack comes less than two weeks after Al Jazeera correspondent Anas al-Sharif and four colleagues were killed outside Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. According to Al Jazeera, at least 274 Palestinian journalists have been killed since the war began in October 2023.
The Israeli military and the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said they had no immediate comment on the latest strike. The conflict was triggered by Hamas’s October 2023 assault on Israel, which killed more than 1,200 people. Israel’s retaliatory offensive has since killed over 62,000 Palestinians, most of them civilians, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry figures regarded as reliable by the United Nations.
