The Peoples Democratic Party has zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to the southern region, following a decision of its National Executive Committee, NEC, in Abuja.
In a communiqué presented by party spokesperson, Mr. Debo Ologunagba, the NEC said the choice was made after extensive deliberations and in line with recommendations from the zoning committee. It also resolved that existing arrangements for national working committee positions would remain unchanged at the party’s elective convention in November.

This means offices currently held by northerners will stay in the north, while those in the south will remain in the south. With the chairmanship retained in the north, the presidential slot is now confirmed for the south.
The NEC also reviewed preparations for its convention in Ibadan on 15 and 16 November and directed the constitution amendment committee to circulate its draft for wider input.
