The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has called on the Peoples Democratic Party to zone its presidential ticket to the southern region for the 2027 election.
Speaking in Abuja on Monday after a meeting of “Concerned Stakeholders of the PDP,” Wike said the decision would uphold fairness, inclusion and the federal character principle. He emphasised the need for the party to respect its constitution and zone the presidential ticket to the South after years of northern presidency under Muhammadu Buhari.

The group also reaffirmed Senator Sam Anyanwu as the party’s National Secretary, stressing that only he has the constitutional mandate to issue notices for key party meetings and to communicate with the Independent National Electoral Commission.
WIKE asserted that any notices or actions not issued by him as null and void.
The stakeholders urged the party to respect the Supreme Court judgment and take urgent steps to prevent what they described as an inexorable drift towards extinction.
