The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a middle-aged man, David Anoke, by unidentified gunmen in Okposi community, Ohaozara Local Government Area. The incident occurred over the weekend at the Court Area of the town.
Police spokesperson SP Joshua Ukandu said the command has launched an investigation and deployed officers to the area. He added that calm had been restored following the attack.

In response, the Ohaozara Local Government Chairman, Ajah Chinonso-Consider, condemned the killing and urged residents to remain calm. He called for unity among traditional rulers, community leaders and civil society groups to support security agencies in restoring peace.
As part of immediate security measures, the local government announced a daily curfew restricting the movement of motorcycles and tricycles between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. The authorities say the measure is intended to help track criminal elements and prevent further attacks.
