The Federal Government has urged Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration and actively participate in nation-building. The call was made by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during an inter-ministerial world press conference to mark Nigeria’s 65th independence anniversary.
Idris said the achievements of the administration over the past two years were evidence that the country is on the right path. He listed progress in oil production, with losses at their lowest level in 16 years, as well as an increase in investment in deep-water exploration and doubled royalties from solid minerals between 2023 and 2024.

The minister announced that Nigeria will begin implementing a new tax act from January 2026 to simplify tax collection and increase government revenue. He stressed that the Tinubu government is inclusive and that all regions have felt the impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Idris acknowledged the challenges facing Nigerians but appealed for patience, saying the efforts made in the last 28 months would soon yield results. He urged citizens to remain hopeful and committed to the nation’s progress.
