The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the terrorism trial of Indigenous People of Biafra leader, Nnamdi Kanu, until October 16 to allow the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, complete its medical assessment of his health.
Justice James Omotosho had earlier directed the NMA to form a panel of specialists, including a cardiologist and neurologist, to evaluate whether the Department of State Services’ facility could meet Kanu’s medical needs. The findings will guide the court in deciding if he should be transferred to the National Hospital, Abuja.

At Wednesday’s sitting, the Department of State Services informed the court that the NMA’s report was not yet ready, prompting both parties to agree to an adjournment. Kanu’s lawyers have repeatedly raised concerns over his declining health, citing medical recommendations for urgent treatment outside DSS custody.
