Senator Ali Ndume has rejected claims by United States lawmaker Ted Cruz that Christians are facing genocide in Nigeria, describing the allegation as false and misleading.
Speaking in an interview monitored by Radio Now’s Newsdesk, the Borno South senator warned that such remarks could distort global understanding of Nigeria’s security situation.

Senator Ndume said insecurity in Nigeria should not be framed along religious lines, noting that victims of violence cut across faiths and ethnic groups. He urged international observers to seek verified information rather than rely on outdated or biased reports.
His comments followed Senator Cruz’s recent call for US sanctions against Nigerian officials over alleged persecution of Christians — a claim the Nigerian Senate has also dismissed as divisive and damaging to national unity.
