The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, says activist Omoyele Sowore remains wanted for allegedly planning to obstruct traffic on the Third Mainland Bridge. Speaking in a TV interview monitored by Radio Now’s Newsdesk, the police chief said Sowore had yet to report to the authorities since he was declared wanted on Monday.
CP Jimoh explained that Sowore’s lawyer had earlier contacted him, agreeing that the activist would appear before the Criminal Investigation Department handling the case. He said the police prefer to conclude preliminary investigations before making an arrest but that Sowore’s continued absence had stalled the process.
The Commissioner vowed that the police would take all lawful steps to ensure Sowore’s arrest, investigation, and prosecution, stressing that his declaration remains valid. He maintained that the police have the legal authority to declare a person wanted and urged anyone opposed to seek redress in court.

Jimoh also dismissed claims by Sowore that the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, had ordered that he be shot on sight. He described the allegation as false and misleading, adding that the IGP would never issue such an instruction.
