A Federal High Court in Lagos has restrained the state police command and the Commissioner of Police from arresting or intimidating human rights activist and Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore.
The interim order, issued by Justice Musa Kakaki, followed a suit filed by Sowore challenging his recent declaration as a wanted person.
In his affidavit, Mr. Sowore said he had not received any police invitation or warrant before being labelled wanted by Commissioner Jimoh Moshood, who accused him of inciting unrest over recent demolitions in Oworonshoki. He argued that the declaration violated his constitutional rights and damaged his reputation.
