Intensify Operations to Rescue Abducted Kebbi Schoolgirls, Army Chief Orders Troops

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has directed troops of Operation Fansan Yanma to intensify the search-and-rescue mission for students abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School Maga in the Danko Wasagu area of Kebbi State. During an operational visit on Monday, he urged frontline troops to conduct intelligence-led missions and maintain continuous day and night pursuit of the abductors.

General Shaibu also met with local vigilantes and hunters, describing them as crucial partners in navigating the terrain. He appealed for close collaboration to trace the attackers and assured community leaders, including the Traditional Ruler of Danko and the school’s principal, of the Army’s commitment to rescuing the students unharmed.

The attack occurred on Sunday night when bandits stormed the school, killing the Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Makuku, before abducting 25 students. Witnesses said the assailants operated without resistance and caused widespread panic in the community.
