The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, faction aligned with Minister Nyesom Wike has asked the federal high court in Abuja to stop the electoral commission from recognising the party’s national convention held in Ibadan on 15 and 16 November. In the suit, the plaintiffs — including acting national chairman Mohammed Abdulrahman and national secretary Samuel Anyanwu — argue that the gathering violated several existing court orders and should be declared invalid.
They claim the convention expelled key figures, installed new officials and ignored rulings that restrained the party from convening the exercise. The faction also accuses security agencies of sealing the PDP secretariat in Abuja and denying them access.

The plaintiffs are seeking orders compelling the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and security agencies to enforce earlier judgements and prevent the new leadership from parading themselves as officials. The case is yet to be assigned to a judge.
