Army Foils Bandit Ambush, Rescues Kidnapped Victim in Kogi

Troops of the 12 Brigade Nigerian Army have foiled an ambush by armed bandits and rescued a kidnapped victim during an operation around the Oshokoshoko–Obajana corridor in Lokoja, Kogi State. The incident occurred early on Tuesday after intelligence indicated the movement of abductors through the area.

Soldiers from the Kabba Patrol Base, supported by hybrid security units, mounted an ambush and made contact with the gunmen. The bandits opened fire but were overpowered, leaving one attacker dead while others escaped with injuries. An AK-47 rifle was recovered at the scene.

The rescued victim, found in a weakened state, was taken to hospital for treatment. The Army says pursuit operations are ongoing and urged residents to support security efforts with timely and credible information.
