Peter Obi Accuses ECOWAS of Double Standards Over Guinea-Bissau Coup

Obi Faults FG on Sharp Decline in Foreign Direct Investment

Peter Obi has accused ECOWAS of double standards over its reaction to the recent military coup in Guinea-Bissau.

The opposition candidate said that while ECOWAS was quick to condemn the military takeover, the bloc has largely remained silent on election “glitches” or irregularities in other countries.

According to him, such silence undermines democratic norms.

He noted that the November 23 elections in Guinea-Bissau appeared peaceful, with voting concluded before the military disrupted the process, however whether disruptions come through force or technical failures, they should be treated equally.

He called for transparency, accountability, and consistent condemnation of any assault on democratic processes.
