CAC warns public about 15 fake, unregistered company names

The Corporate Affairs Commission has issued a public alert warning Nigerians about 15 unregistered company names and registration numbers currently being used in business transactions across the country. The CAC says the entities were flagged after checks showed their details do not exist in the Commission’s official database.

In a notice released on X, the Commission urged the public to exercise extreme caution when dealing with individuals or organisations linked to the listed names. It added that many of these entities use forged RC numbers and fake documents to deceive unsuspecting customers.

The Commission advised Nigerians to always verify company names and registration numbers on the CAC online portal before making payments or entering business agreements. It also encouraged the public to request incorporation documents for high-value transactions.
