The Independent National Electoral Commission says it has recorded 2,685,725 completed registrations in the first phase of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise, which ended on 10 December. INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan announced the figures at the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room National Stakeholders Forum in Abuja, noting that the total includes more than 1.5 million online registrations and over 1.1 million physical captures.
Professor Amupitan said Osun had the highest number of new registrations with 208,357, followed by Kaduna with 159,669 and Plateau with 152,650. Other states with high turnout include Imo, Borno and Lagos. He added that the Commission is working with telecommunications agencies to address connectivity challenges that affect real-time transmission of results.
