Members of the Itsekiri nationality on Monday occupied the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Abuja to protest the 2025 polling unit delineation exercise in Delta State. The exercise relates to the Warri Federal Constituency.
The protesters said the exercise has led to their marginalisation and called on INEC to review the redistribution of polling units and the creation of new wards. They carried placards, sang solidarity songs, and insisted the process was unfair to their ethnic group.
The demonstration is the third by the group at INEC headquarters this year over the issue. The controversy over the Warri Federal Constituency delineation has continued since the beginning of 2026, with different ethnic nationalities taking opposing positions.

INEC National Commissioner Abdullahi Zuru told the protesters the commission is already reviewing the matter. The protest was later disrupted when another group confronted the demonstrators, urging them to allow INEC to carry out its duties without interference.
