At least twelve people have been killed and three others abducted after gunmen attacked local miners in Fan community, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State. Five other miners were injured in the incident, which happened on Tuesday night.
The attack occurred at about 9 p.m. while the victims were engaged in what community leaders described as legitimate mining activities in the area. The assailants were said to have struck without warning.
Confirming the incident, the National President of the Berom Youth Moulder Association, Barrister Solomon Dalyop, said the miners were attacked without provocation. He said twelve people were killed on the spot, while three were taken away by the attackers.

The injured victims have been taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment, as efforts continue to locate and rescue those abducted. The attack adds to ongoing security concerns in parts of Plateau State.
