The Northern Christian Association of Nigeria has called for a thorough and transparent investigation into the sponsors and financiers of terrorism in the country. The group warned that insecurity will continue unless those funding terrorism, banditry and kidnapping are identified and punished.
In a Christmas message issued by its Chairman, Reverend John Joseph Hayab, Northern CAN said the Federal Government must move beyond rhetoric and address the root causes of violent crimes. It said Nigeria cannot achieve national renewal without justice and accountability.
The association said unchecked violence has caused widespread pain to individuals, families and communities, stressing that peace will remain unattainable while terror financiers operate freely. It added that the Christmas season should serve as a time for sober reflection on the nation’s moral conscience.

Northern CAN welcomed the Federal Government’s decision to classify kidnappers, bandits and violent criminal groups as terrorists. It described the move as a step towards strengthening national security, while urging leaders to match words with action by confronting both perpetrators of violence and those who fund them.
