One person has been confirmed dead after a section of a private rice mill collapsed in Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi State capital, trapping five other workers under metal wreckage. The incident occurred at a facility operated by NIA-AGRI.
Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, visited the site on Tuesday evening to assess the situation and monitor rescue efforts. He led a high-powered delegation to the facility, as emergency teams worked to reach those still trapped.
Officials at the site told the delegation that five workers remained under the rubble at the time of the visit. A combined team of the State Fire Service and government emergency response workers has been deployed to conduct continuous rescue operations.
