The Kebbi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has accused the state government of failing to respond adequately to killings in Shanga Local Government Area of Yauri Emirate, describing the security situation as alarming.
In a New Year message issued on Thursday, the party’s State Chairman, Safiyanu Bala, said residents of Shanga had reportedly been killed over several days without what he described as a meaningful response from the Kebbi State Government.
Bala also raised concerns about rising insecurity, economic hardship and political intimidation across the country, accusing authorities of shrinking the democratic space and harassing opposition figures to force defections to the ruling party.

The ADC called on the Kebbi State Government to take urgent action to protect lives in Shanga, saying residents are not seeking political favour but are demanding security, justice and immediate intervention to stop the violence.
