ADC, Amnesty demand action over Kuje Chairman’s ‘APC or Leave’ remark

The African Democratic Congress has demanded the arrest of Kuje Area Council chairman Danjuma Shekwolo over a viral remark that residents must support the All Progressives Congress or leave.

The demand comes on the heels of Amnesty International Nigeria’s Tuesday remark condemning the remark and urging security agencies to intervene.

In a video recorded last Friday, Shekwolo said he would not tolerate opposition from residents who had benefited from interventions by President Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. ADC’s Bolaji Abdullahi called it a “threat of forced displacement,” citing constitutional rights, and urged police and the Department of State Services to prosecute him.

The party also linked the remark to an earlier threat by an APC senator during Osun’s governorship election, alleging a pattern of political intimidation.

Shekwolo says his comments were made in a meeting with party loyalists and were not intended as broader council policy.
