The Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of families of fallen soldiers, saying the sacrifices of personnel who died in defence of the country will not be forgotten. The assurance was given during special prayer sessions held at the 1 Division Central Mosque and Saint Peter’s Catholic Military Church at Ribadu Cantonment in Kaduna.
Speaking on behalf of the General Officer Commanding, 1 Division Nigerian Army, Maj Gen Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed Wase, the Commander, 101 Equipment Support Engineer, Brig Gen Muhammad Lawal, described the Armed Forces Remembrance Day as a moment for reflection, gratitude and renewed commitment. He said the Army remained resolute in supporting families of fallen heroes and urged serving personnel to remain steadfast.
Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, also paid tribute to officers and men of the Armed Forces, particularly those who lost their lives in the line of duty. Represented by the Commissioner for Environment, Abubakar Buba, the governor expressed sympathy with the military and families of fallen soldiers, while offering prayers for troops deployed across various operations.

At the inter-denominational church service, senior military officers and government officials were in attendance. The Chief of Staff, 1 Division, Brig Gen Timothy Opurum, said the event reassured families that their loved ones were remembered, while the officiating chaplain, Reverend Martins Awoyinka, called for continued prayers for both fallen and serving personnel.
