Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose says the African Democratic Congress, ADC, risks sliding into political irrelevance if it fails to present former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi as its presidential candidate in the 2027 general election.
Fayose described Obi as the only figure capable of giving the ADC nationwide relevance, saying other actors within the party lack comparable electoral appeal. He said Obi’s political influence was demonstrated during the 2023 general elections, when his candidacy on the Labour Party platform led to unexpected victories in the House of Representatives.

The former governor said Obi’s support cuts across party lines and insisted he would attract similar backing even on the platform of a relatively small party.
