Nigeria, UAE sign ports development agreement

Nigeria has signed a memorandum of understanding with Abu Dhabi Ports Group to explore cooperation in ports development, maritime logistics and digital solutions. The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, according to the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency.

The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, led the Nigerian delegation to the signing ceremony, while Mohamed Hassan, chairman of Abu Dhabi Ports Group, represented the company. The Director General of NIMASA, Dayo Mobereola, was also present at the event.

In a statement, NIMASA’s head of public relations, Osagie Edward, said the delegation later briefed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on the details and strategic importance of the agreement. He said the MoU had been under consideration for more than two decades.
