The House of Representatives has passed the N58.47 trillion 2026 appropriation bill for second reading. The bill scaled the stage during Thursday’s plenary after lawmakers reconvened from an executive session, following a motion moved by the House Majority Leader, Julius Ihonvbere, who represents Owan federal constituency.

Presenting the general principles of the bill, Mr Ihonvbere said the budget reflects the federal government’s efforts towards economic stability, growth and sustainable development. He cited indicators including improved external reserves of about 46 billion dollars, relative exchange rate stability, and fiscal discipline under President Bola Tinubu, who presented the budget to a joint session of the National Assembly on December 19.
