The National Examinations Council has released the results of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination for external candidates, with 71.63 percent achieving five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics. The Registrar and Chief Executive of NECO, Danlami Wushishi, announced the results on Tuesday.
Mr Wushishi said 96,979 candidates registered for the examination nationwide, while 95,160 candidates eventually sat for it. Of those who sat, 53.36 percent were male and 46.63 percent female. He added that 68,166 candidates met the benchmark of five credits, including English and Mathematics, while 82,082 candidates obtained five credits and above regardless of the two core subjects.
According to NECO, 93,425 candidates sat for English Language, with 78.32 percent securing credit passes and above, while 91.35 percent of the 93,330 candidates who sat for Mathematics achieved credit level and above. The council said the results reflect continued participation across the country.

On examination of malpractice, Mr Wushishi disclosed that 9,016 candidates were booked for various offences, compared with 6,160 cases in 2024, representing an increase of 31.7 percent. He said supervisors in the Federal Capital Territory, Kano and Lagos states were recommended for sanctions, while four examination centres in Niger, Yobe and Lagos states were recommended for de-recognition over whole centre malpractice.
