Gunmen Abduct Five Worshippers in Ondo Church Attack

Gunmen have abducted five worshippers during a church service in Uso, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State. The attack happened at about 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday at a branch of the Celestial Church of Christ.

Police say the armed men entered the church while a service was in progress and took the worshippers to an unknown location. The spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident in a message to journalists in Akure.

He said officers, working with the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups, launched a coordinated rescue operation shortly after receiving the report.

Police say one of the victims has been rescued and one suspect arrested, adding that efforts are continuing to secure the release of the remaining abductees and apprehend those responsible.
