The Federal Executive Council has approved the demolition and reconstruction of the Carter Bridge in Lagos.

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, announced the decision on Wednesday, 4th March, while briefing journalists after the council meeting chaired by President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja.

Umahi said the council also approved five point six billion naira for advanced engineering consultants to prepare the design and costing of the new bridge. He explained that stakeholder consultations had concluded that the Carter Bridge could no longer be rehabilitated and should instead be replaced.
