The United States House of Representatives is set to vote on a resolution aimed at limiting the country’s military involvement in the ongoing conflict with Iran. The measure seeks to require the administration of President Donald Trump to obtain congressional approval before continuing military operations against Iran. The vote comes amid growing debate in Washington over the president’s authority to conduct the war without explicit approval from Congress.
The proposal has been introduced by Republican Representative Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Democratic Representative Nancy Pelosi of California, who say Congress must assert its constitutional authority over decisions related to war. Supporters argue the resolution is necessary to prevent further escalation and to ensure lawmakers have oversight of US military action.
The House vote follows a similar attempt in the US Senate to advance a war powers resolution aimed at curbing the conflict. That effort failed after lawmakers voted against the measure, highlighting divisions in Congress and continued Republican support for the administration’s military campaign.

The debate comes as fighting continues between Iran and US-Israeli forces, with missile and drone attacks reported across parts of the Middle East. Lawmakers pushing the resolution say the vote will test whether Congress is willing to reassert its authority over decisions to engage in war.
