Troops Repel Boko Haram Attack at Ajilari Cross, Maiduguri

Security forces in Borno State have repelled an attempted infiltration by suspected Boko Haram insurgents at Ajilari Cross, on the outskirts of Maiduguri. Residents reported sporadic gunfire around 1 a.m., which caused panic across the neighbourhood.

Military and police operatives were swiftly deployed to the area, where some infrastructure was set ablaze during the attack. The Nigeria Police Force spokesperson, Nuhum Daso, confirmed the incident and urged residents to remain indoors while operations continued.

By 7 a.m. on Monday, March 16, normalcy had returned, but the military maintained a cordon around the affected area to ensure safety. The authorities have not reported any casualties, and investigations are ongoing.
