At least 23 people have been killed and 146 others injured in multiple explosions in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
The blasts occurred on Monday night at the entrance of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, as well as in the Monday Market and Post Office areas of the city.
The National Emergency Management Agency says 169 victims have been evacuated to hospitals, with 108 receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, 20 at Umaru Shehu Hospital, and 17 at Maiduguri Specialist Hospital.
Police say explosive ordnance experts and other security personnel have been deployed, with operations underway to secure the area as emergency responders continue rescue efforts.Â

Responding to the attack in a statement, the state Governor, Babagana Zulum, called for calm, and condemned the attacks, describing them as “utterly condemnable, barbaric and inhumane.
