Three people, two women and a man, have died after a three-storey unfinished building being used as a church collapsed during a service in Accra, Ghana’s capital, on Sunday.
Ghana’s Interior Minister, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, said about 20 others, mostly women and children, were rescued from the rubble and taken to the hospital, adding that there was a 90 to 95 per cent certainty that no one else was trapped.
Emergency teams worked through the night using floodlights to search the debris, while investigations have begun into the cause of the collapse, which followed heavy rainfall.
